Southern North Carolina lightning

WALLACE, NC - After several days of 100°F-plus temperatures, parts of North Carolina finally got some relief from the heat in the form of severe thunderstorms. The storms formed ahead of a frontal boundary during the late afternoon. While a few smaller storm cells skimmed over the Raleigh metro, the Raleigh-Durham area largely missed out on this event. I headed down I-40 before sunset to see what I could find with the strengthening line of storms heading for the Wilmington area. The following lightning images are still frames from video taken near Wallace, north of Wilmington along I-40.

This lightning strike hit a power line, triggering a flashover arc:
