Huntington, WV lightning
I didn't expect to be chasing all night tonight, but that's the way it goes. No sooner had I finished processing the Charleston photos (expecting to go to bed afterward) than I saw a mass of storms moving toward the tri-state region. Back on the road! Ended up in Huntington and across the river in Proctorville for an insane lightning show - that I missed at least 30 great shots of due to looking for a tree-less and power line-less scene. Being picky is costly, but I'd rather miss the shots than have 30 photos of nice lightning strikes behind trees. Did get one nice bolt in the clear out of it, although it's another right-on-the-edge-of-the-frame one.

These branches are from a strike about 1000 feet away, off to the left of the picture about 90 degrees. It's been a while since I've seen a strike that close, nice and loud - too bad it was out of frame.
