Wildfire near Campbell's Creek in Charleston

HD VIDEO: November 26 forest fire in Charleston

Interrupting the snow updates to post about the sudden wildfire/forest fire that engulfed a mountain east of Charleston near Campbell's Creek on Thursday evening. News reports called it a small brush fire, but observers could see it was anything but small. This fire was highly visible across the eastern parts of Charleston, particularly from Kanawha City and along I-77/I-64. The fire started sometime during the late afternoon and continued into the night, when colder temps and higher humidity helped slow the flames. Firefighters could be seen on top of the ridge to the west of the fire. No structures were immediately threatened.

Whoa. Are any houses/buildings in danger??
- Posted by Katie from Melrose, MA
There are a few houses on either side of the mountain, but I think they'll be OK - the fire is moving slower now and starting to go out.
