Stormhighway.com comment posting rules

(This list of rules is not intended for the majority of visitors (much appreciated) to this site who post thoughful, relevant comments, but rather the small percentage who do not.) When a post is made on this site, I instantly receive a notification email from the server with the contents of the post. If the post violates any of the rules below, I will either edit the post or delete it immediately. Otherwise, the commenting system on StormHighway.com is unmoderated, that is, posts will initially show up immediately on the site without my approval.

In Short, the rules are as follows:

  • Posts must be family-friendly
  • No incendiary comments
  • You must use your real name
  • No links or embedded images
  • No SPAM, commercial or marketing posts
  • No irrelevant, incoherent or frivolous posts
That's all! To explain things further:
  • Posts must be family-friendly: This site has had a longstanding reputation for being G-rated, in other words a place that children and families can visit without worry. For this reason, I do not allow posts with any profanity (even mild) or any otherwise inappropriate subject matter. If you typed a relevant thought-out post that included a curse word or two, I will edit out the words in question rather than delete the post altogether - so please don't be offended if it happens.
     
  • No incendiary comments: I don't mind a mild and civil debate, and I won't delete your comment simply due to you disagreeing with me. However, if the post is irrational, full of hatred, vitriol or obnoxiousness, it will be deleted.
     
  • You must use your real name: You don't need to post your full name, your first name will do. Anonymous posts or those with nicknames/pseudonyms will be deleted.
     
  • No links or embedded images: The comment script does not allow HTML, BBCODE or any other markup language - so it is not possible to post links or images in your comments. All such code entered into the form will be automatically removed. I have this feature activated for security and anti-spam purposes. This means that any web address posted in a comment will not work (hyperlink). I will edit out any web URLs posted in a comment.
     
  • No SPAM, commercial or marketing posts: This is self-explanatory. I will immediately delete any such posts. Do not tack on or 'sneak in' a plug for a product or service at the end of a legitimate post - it will be removed!
     
  • No irrelevant, incoherent or frivolous posts: This is also self-explanatory. The comment system is not a chat room. If you don't have anything thoughtful or on-topic to add, please don't post a comment.
     
Again, most of the readers of this blog have no need to read these rules. But as with any online forum, there are the exceptions that make this necessary.
