A 5.4 magnitude earthquake hit before sunrise this morning in southern Illinois, centered just north of I-64 near the Indiana border. This is at an area I am frequently traveling in during storm observing trips - just last week I was driving around shooting the Wabash River basin flooding just a short distance from the epicenter of this quake! The quake was felt in Chicago, St. Louis, and parts of Ohio and Kentucky. Apparently there is some minor damage in downtown Louisville.

EDIT: Reports indicate that the earthquake was also felt across much of the east coast, including West Virginia and North Carolina.
