Without wavering, let us hold tightly to the hope we say we have, for God can be trusted to keep His promise.
Hebrews 10:23

I called this section of the site 'Small Graces', but in reality some of them are 'big' to me. Like this one.

Several years ago, I heard a spot on the radio about someone placing Bible verses all around their house, as 'life reminders' - on walls, doorposts, etc. (read Deuteronomy 6:8-9). I thought that sounded like a pretty cool idea - so I did it. I picked out a few Scripture verses, and inscribed them on the walls in random spots throughout my house.

After a few years, I didn't really notice them much anymore. On the evening of May 7, 2005 I was feeling particularly depressed about several issues. I walked into my hallway and glanced at the wall next to the storage closet, at the small string of black text between the doorposts that had caught my eye for some unknown reason. For some reason I felt the need to stop, read the verse, and think about it. It was Hebrews 10:23, and was just what I needed to hear at that instant - Let us hold tightly to the hope we say we have, for God can be trusted to keep His promise.

Immediately afterward, I got into the car to go for a drive to think, pray and listen to music on K-LOVE, the national Christian radio network. Ten minutes into my drive, the announcer came on the radio bewteen songs to read a short verse of scripture, as they often do. The verse was Hebrews 10:23.

Without wavering, let us hold tightly to the hope we say we have, for God can be trusted to keep His promise.

. . . Lord, you're the best.
