From Dan: How the crime of copyright infringement took $1 million from me and brought down my business.

I've lost more than $1 million to copyright infringement in the last 15 years, and it's finally brought an end to my professional storm chasing operation. This page is a detailed account of the biggest threat to my photography and video operation that I had to battle daily to just barely survive, and eventually could not overcome. It's a problem facing all of my colleagues as well.

An orb weaver spider has been building a large, impressive web over two feet in diameter on the deck here at the house every night. The webs' support threads have been over 10-15 feet long, stretching all the way across the deck to connect the edge of the roof with either the railing, the chaise lounge, or the tree in the backyard. I tried setting a camera up to do a time-lapse of the web-weaving process, but the spider would quickly run and hide whenever I turned the light on the subject.
