Return of the 5 string
I have to have something to do in my spare time now that the ridging is setting in for the summer across the Plains. Re-inspired by the Vandalia festival this weekend, I headed down to the Fret-n-Fiddle music shop in St. Albans and picked this up on Saturday afternoon.
I was looking for something quick and inexpensive just to get back into learning to play again, and this is a decent instrument for the price I paid for it. It is in great shape and has a good sound.
I bought my first 5-string banjo back in 1997 and taught myself how to play some basic rolls using a video tutorial. I eventually traded it in for a 6-string acoustic guitar in 2002, which I still have. While miraculously I still remember the 3-finger banjo rolls I learned back in '97, don't ask me to play this thing for you yet. Trust me, you'll be sorry you did. Just give me another year or two first.
