The 2021 winter season was slightly below average in terms of interesting weather - that is, until February 8 when a historic arctic air mass swept all the way into the Gulf of Mexico. Icy roads and frigid temperatures were seen all the way to Brownsville, Texas. That event resulted in a 10-day trip, my longest ever for a winter storm chase expedition. During the month of May, I saw a total of 11 tornadoes across the Plains and Midwest.
