St. Louis is second only to Chicago as one of the busiest railroad hubs in the Midwestern US. Most major American railroad lines serve and interchange within the city, and passenger service via Amtrak offers cross-country rail travel options in several directions. The Metrolink light rail line is an outstanding option for local commuters, with service from Lambert Airport all the way to Scott Air Force Base in Illinois. Most east-west rail traffic passing through St. Louis crosses the massive MacArthur Bridge on the south side of downtown, while Metrolink uses the rail deck of the Eads Bridge. - Dan
