"Editorial Use Only" Licensing Information

The image you selected is available for rights-managed editorial use only (commercial/advertising use and prints are unavailable). Licensing is available for editorial and approved non-profit applications. For a customized quote, simply provide the specifics of your project needs (size of image, scope of distribution, number of images needed). Please feel free to email with questions and inquiries.

Rate guidelines

Image licenses start at $150. The professional imagery and video on this site involves a substantial cost in acquisition and equipment that does not allow us to serve the numerous requests for free/discounted images received every month.

Rates vary depending on factors such as the size and prominence of the published image (full page, half page, etc), the number of copies in a print run, and/or the display venue. We are happy to work with you for a license that fits your budget. Please feel free to contact us with questions and inquiries.

Image Resolution

Most images are 12MP resolution (14.24" x 9.5" at 300dpi), with most panoramas significantly larger. All images catalogged with single-letter prefixes (A, B, C, etc) are 12MP RAW source. Slide film (SF) and negative film (NF) images can be custom-scanned at any resolution (scanning costs apply). Images can be delivered in any format including JPEG, TIFF, PSD or TGA.

File Delivery

Image delivery is via internet by default. A private web-based download account is provided for each client.

Payment Policy

Payment is accepted via check or any major credit card (through Google Checkout processing system). Invoices are due when images are delivered. Licenses are not valid until fees are paid in full.

Please feel free to email with questions and inquiries.

Trademark Rights & Clearances

The vast majority of images in the Storm Highway catalog contain no trademarked components, and therefore require no rights and clearances considerations. A few select images, however, will require the end user to obtain the proper clearances to use an image in its final capacity. This includes any image with a visible trademark or logo (such as a sign on a city building) or images where a single structure is prominent. Assistiance is available to locate the contact information of the appropriate parties, however, as final image usages can vary extensively, clearances are not obtained on the clients' behalf.

Post-editing services are available to blur, mask or remove any portion of an image in order to remove any rights and clearances concerns. To preserve journalistic integrity, it is preferred to archive and offer the images 'as is' rather than edited, so these edits are typically only done upon request on a client/order basis.

Is Storm Highway a microstock site?

License fees start at $150 for the most basic of usages. The professional imagery and video on this site involves a substantial cost in acquisition and equipment that does not allow us to serve the numerous requests for free/discounted images received every month.

The Storm Highway gallery is comprised of many photographs that required years of travel and numerous attempts to capture the desired scene. To capture many of these images, the right conditions have to come together at just the right time - which means a single image often takes weeks, months or even years of effort to acquire. Many long nights, sleep-deprived days, equipment investments and endurance of harsh weather conditions have gone into the photographs you see in this gallery, and the rates reflect the time and expense that has been invested into capturing each image. The rate structure allows the continuation of these specialized photography efforts - and by doing so, allowing the capture of new, unique and exciting imagery.
