Google Street View car in Charleston

Looks like I'll be on Street View sometime in the future. I stepped outside this afternoon to see Google's car driving by my house. They've already recorded and posted Charleston (and my neighborhood), but supposedly they're doing another update. Must be nice to have the funding to afford that! As usual I had my cameras close by, and snapped a quick video and a couple of stills. If they end up posting whatever they recorded in the next update, I'll be standing on my porch with the Aiptek camera in hand.

In other happenings, I didn't get anything done to the truck during the last Raleigh trip, as it was too rainy and/or cold the entire week to do anything (thanks to a persistent upper trough). I am tentatively planning on a second trip down there sometime next week. Not much to post about otherwise. I did see this supercell-like formation as storms began firing on an outflow boundary south of Raleigh on Wednesday afternoon, which is worth a mention. I wasn't observing or even paying attention to weather, so when I happened to look southward from Ten Ten Road and saw this, I was really caught off guard. There was some good rising motion with this, and the little tail cloud persisted for a good 5 minutes. It didn't amount to anything, but was enough to get my attention for a few minutes. If there had been more instability available, this may have done something.

Here are a couple shots of Raleigh just to round out this post:
