California's Garlock Fault - Photo Gallery by Dan Robinson
The Garlock Fault is a left-lateral transform (strike slip) fault that creates prominent geologic features as it runs north of due east from the San Andreas Fault near Gorman, California to Death Valley. While it has not ruptured in historic times, it is considered a potential source for a large (magnitude 7+) earthquake.
