The first tornado watch of the year has been issued for most of Missouri as the USA's first convective severe weather event of 2008 gets going.

The action should continue into tomorrow into the lower Ohio Valley, and possibly reach West Virginia overnight on Tuesday in the form of a squall line with lightning and heavy rain. I won't rule out an expedition westward tomorrow, particularly if the risk shifts further east into central Kentucky and Ohio.
