IcyRoadSafety.com Launch
NEW WEB SITE: IcyRoadSafety.com - Video, photos, tips and links
After a couple months in the works, I've finally been able to get this next project off the ground. I had hoped to have this done in time for our first winter weather events, but the early snows this month delayed my progress. I am still in the process of compiling stats (they are hard to locate), and I am currently working with a few potential sponsors for the site.
I started this project because I felt that this hazard doesn't get the attention it deserves. The numbers I'm seeing in my research are alarming (over 45 deaths in the US so far this season, and that is a conservative estimate). No other weather hazard makes me as fearful for people as this one, and as a result, in recent years I've become very interested in documenting and learning about it. This site contains video, photos and tips that I've acquired throughout my time involved in covering the icy road issue. The site also includes links to live road condition reports for all US states.

Dan this is incredible! You never cease to amaze. I've passed it along to local wx interests including ILX.

Thanks Paul! Seeing all of the stuff I've seen first-hand has changed how I drive - I hope this will do the same for others.

Dan, that is a really good educational website. Icy roads definitely scare me and I have had my share of skids. Luckily, nothing more serious. People worry more about the snow than ice.
