Sounding the alarm for a serious and life-threatening freezing rain bridge icing event for Oklahoma, Kansas, Missouri, Iowa, Arkansas and Illinois, Including Tulsa, Springfield, MO, St. Louis, and Springfield, IL. Warm ground will keep most areas just wet, wich will cause drivers to be taken by surprise by the very icy bridges.

I have documented many events like this, and accident rates are very high during these conditions. Accidents tend to be more serious due to higher speeds and the 'invisibility' of the ice on bridges, and injury and death rates are typically high - higher than most tornado outbreaks covering a similar geographic area.

See icyroadsafety.com to learn more about bridge icing and its dangers.
