Comet Pan-STARRS photo 'fail' - March 12
In September of 2025, my work is generating the most income it ever has in my career. Yet, I'm being forced to shut down my successul operation, against my will, due to one cause alone: 95% of that revenue is being stolen by piracy and copyright infringement. I've lost more than $1 million to copyright infringement in the last 15 years, and it's finally brought an end to my professional storm chasing operation. Do not be misled by the lies of infringers, anti-copyright activists and organized piracy cartels. This page is a detailed, evidenced account of my battle I had to undertake to just barely stay in business, and eventually could not overcome. It's a problem faced by all of my colleagues and most other creators in the field. |
I blew this opportunity due to not renting a good lens this week. My long lens is simply too junky to get a sharp image in 30mph winds. All of the images I shot tonight were soft. I tried all sorts of tactics to block the wind, none worked. This one was the least-blurred of the set, enough to sharpen and size down so you don't see the softness that much. If I hade a larger image here, you'd see how bad it is.
I doubt I'll give this another go. Without the right equipment, it's a waste of time - not to mention the comet will not be lined up favorably for this shot after today.
Maybe not up to your highest standards Dan, but you still managed to make an image of comet Pan-STARRS. That's way more than most can say.
