From Dan: How the crime of copyright infringement took $1 million from me and shut down my operation.

In September of 2025, my work is generating the most income it ever has in my career. Yet, I'm being forced to shut down my successul operation, against my will, due to one cause alone: 95% of that revenue is being stolen by piracy and copyright infringement. I've lost more than $1 million to copyright infringement in the last 15 years, and it's finally brought an end to my professional storm chasing operation. Do not be misled by the lies of infringers, anti-copyright activists and organized piracy cartels. This page is a detailed, evidenced account of my battle I had to undertake to just barely stay in business, and eventually could not overcome. It's a problem faced by all of my colleagues and most other creators in the field.

CHASE LOG: May 18 Rozel/Sanford, Kansas tornadoes
CHASE LOG: May 29 Oklahoma hail and lightning
CHASE LOG: May 31 El Reno, Oklahoma EF5 record-size tornado

I'm finally wrapping up this year's Great Plains trip logs with the completion of the May 18, May 29 and May 31 accounts. The July 1st and 2nd Illinois tornado days are next on the list, whenever I get some time. With another possible Midwest tornado setup next week, the 2013 chase account backlog may continue. That's always a good problem to have.

I don't get very excited over fireworks, but since they make for some nice images to add to the collection, I braved the crowds and traffic for two of three shows at the Arch on July 4th and July 6th (a combination of Fair St. Louis and 4th of July). Though not quite what I expected (the shells were mainly low and off center), it wasn't a total loss. This and several new images are on the St. Louis fireworks photo page.

The St. Louis Fire Department had two of their ladder trucks suspending a big American Flag on 4th Street. I was hoping they would have left this up for the fireworks, it would have made for a great composition.
