2008 was my first year shooting stills with a DSLR, bringing an end to the film era for me. Despite busting on the biggest Great Plains outbreak days of the season, I managed to bring home a handful of tornado intercepts. The DSLR purchase proved useful for June, which provided the most active and frequent period of lightning photography I'd ever seen, all right at home in West Virginia. 2008 also brought some of the most dramatic icy road footage I'd ever captured, prompting me to begin researching the road icing subject in more detail. This resulted in the launch of the web site.
